When you upgrade to integrated LED recessed lighting, you can forget about changing your light bulbs for years.
If you just want to add LED bulbs to your existing recessed lighting fixtures, that’s called an LED retrofit. There are retrofit kits that convert recessed light cans that were made for old fashioned bulbs to work with modern LED lights. It’s pretty simple. Just take out your old bulbs and remove the existing trim. Then, pop in your new LED retrofit kit or module and you’re done.
Cut the Hole in the Ceiling
Run Wiring to the Ceiling Hole
Attach the Wire to the Recessed Light
Install the Light in the Ceiling Hole
Add the Recessed Light Trim
Add the Right Bulb
Wire the Circuit to the Service Panel
Common fixtures that we are asked to replace include fluorescent light boxes on the ceiling, outdated wall sconces, or basic single ceiling lights. The problem with these fixtures is that they’re often poorly placed without a lot of (or any) customization, so the homeowner is left without light where they need it most.
That’s where recessed lighting comes into play, as it’s a great option for installing light where it’s needed, while not adding more bulky hardware to your room.
