A BR LED light bulb is widely used in both business and household settings. "BR" stands for bulged reflector, and these bulbs are often larger and wider than conventional light bulbs. These bulbs feature wide-flood beam angles, which means they illuminate a space from greater than a 45-degree angle.
Comparison of the sizes of BR and PAR floodlights.
The size or diameter of the light bulb is essentially what distinguishes a BR20, BR30, and BR40. The figure denotes divisions of an eighth of an inch. For instance, a BR30 has a diameter of 3.75 inches and is 30/8ths of an inch, or 30 divided by 8.
Because they are the offspring of the R-shape bulb, BR bulbs have a very similar form. To better collect and throw light forward—which was previously lost in the neck and sides of the normal R bulb—the "Bulged Reflector" bulb (abbreviated as "BR")includes an additional reflector in the neck of the bulb.
